Weather on Route

Show forecast conditions throughout a trip based on route and arrival time.

Answers the question a forecast cannot: what the weather will be where you are, when you get there. It maps the forecast onto the route and the departure time, so a five-hour drive is shown as five hours of conditions rather than one city's day.

What a v1 does5 features
  • Conditions along the whole route, plotted against arrival time at each point
  • Departure time suggestions that avoid the worst of it
  • Warnings tied to a place and an hour rather than to a region
  • Alternate routes compared on weather as well as time
  • A shareable summary for whoever is expecting you

Drive Weather and Weather on the Way are small independent apps that publish nothing, and GasBuddy shows the audience exists at 100M downloads while remaining free. This is an unbuilt product rather than a failed one, priced at $4 a month.

Why this audience

These viewers plan drives properly, because the content treats the car and the trip as things worth doing well. A regional forecast is useless for a five-hour drive. Conditions mapped to arrival time is the version of the question they are actually asking.

Fifty thousand paying users is the ceiling every one of these pages is drawn against, not a forecast. It opens at a thousand, the bottom of the range, so the first figures you see are the modest ones. What the cap buys is comparability: the same range on every app, and the percentage of the audience it takes as the number that moves.

Is this the one for your audience?

We fund it, build it, and run it. You bring the audience and take a share of the revenue. Nothing to pay and nothing to build.
